PC Timeline

11-2013 I worked on my application for many weeks on the old system… I haven’t seen the new   system, but I hears it’s much shorter

12-1-2013 I submitted my application

12-3-2013 I submitted my Health History Form (HHF)

12-11-2013 I met with a PC Regional Representative who is a fellow LMU alum and RPCV 

1-22-2014 Peace Corps Interview at the LA office

2-1-2014 I was nominated to be a PCV, although because of health limitations I was not given any idea about a region or country

6-13-14 I finally received medical pre-clearance, which I needed in order to receive an invitation. I had to go through two separate rounds of paperwork in order to gain clearance. I was supposed to be cleared back in March.

6-27-14 I was legally pre-cleared by the Suitability and Security Office. 

7-16-14 I then contacted Peace Corps to see what the new timeline would be since I was supposed to already be ready for departure. They said they would contact me in 3-4 weeks.

7-30-2014 They contacted me and I completed the Placement Questionnaire

7-31-2014 PC inquired about the possibility of Cameroon and my mother rejected that idea… She had made an excel sheets ranking the security of each country and Cameroon came in the bottom 5.

8-1-2014 Peace Corps Invitation received! I found out I would be a TEFL volunteer in Madagascar. It was completely unexpected!

9-2014 I sent off the information for my visa and passport

1-2015 I began the tasks to receive my final medical clearance. 

2-2015 I received some bad news from the Medical Office. They told me that I may not be able to be medically cleared to leave for service because of previous health issues and I may have to postpone my departure and may not be able to serve as a volunteer at all.

3-10-2015 I received final medical clearance. I wasn’t sure this was going to happen!

6-7-2015 I departed SFO for staging in Philadelphia

6-8-2015 Staging and Orientation in Philadelphia

6-9-2015 I departed JFK for Madagascar

6-10-2015 I arrived in Madagascar and began PST (Pre-Service Training)

8-28-2015 Swearing in Ceremony
